The Past Four Months

I am so far behind. Four months to be exact. In my defense, we forgot our cord that attaches our camera to our computer, so I couldn't upload any pictures.

Our summer begins:
So after school ended in April, we packed up our car and drove to North Carolina. We stopped in Tennessee one night, and it was in the middle of a crazy storm. The side of the roads were completely flooded, and all the roads were closed. Luckily we missed the worst of the storm, but we still got it pretty bad. We watched the news as entire semis were completely covered in water, and the roads were all stopped. It was scary, but we got to North Carolina in one piece.

We got to our apartment on a Sunday afternoon, and the furniture company was closed, so we had to sleep the first two nights on the ground.

Spike sniffing out our makeshift bed

North Carolina was the ghetto. It was hard because Chance was out knocking in the bad parts of town, so I was always worried about him, and I couldn't really leave the apartment because it wasn't safe. I spent a lot of time at the pool and the gym, and another one of the wives and I went to the mall quite a bit (but I didn't buy anything at all- Chance was proud).

My favorite NC activity was the drive- through zoo.

It was a whole lot of this
It was slightly scary.

Chance was not super excited about feeding the animals. He felt very concerned about the germs on the animals, so for the first part, he wouldn't even roll down the window.

Probably one of the only times he fed the animals.

Funny story- Chance had rolled his window down, but forgot about it while taking this picture
as he was taking the picture, the hugest, smelliest animal with flies swarming all over it stuck its head into the car and licked the back of Chance's head and neck. I couldn't stop laughing, but he was scarred for the rest of the drive. I'm pretty sure he rubbed hand sanitizer all over his head.

One of the animals that licked him
These guys were all over the place

I had no idea that Ostriches sat like this! Weird

Feeding the giraffes

I have no idea what this is

Worst part of the trip- I was feeding this guy (apparently you aren't supposed to)
and he stole my feed bucket! I tried to get it back, and I got hit in the head with one of his huge horns. Hence this picture
Big jerk. But look at those horns! They're huge

Other worst part of the trip- these guys were in front of us and they were soo rude! They continually drove off the path, scaring the animals away so no one else could see them and ruining the park. They would speed up and go around us so they could see the animals first, and then stop so we were all stuck behind them. They would also get out of the car to take pictures, which is breaking the biggest rule of the park. I'm surprised they didn't get mauled. They made us so mad, and almost ruined the trip for everyone else.
Best part of the trip- baby ostriches! They were adorable! It's a little hard to see, sorry!

It was a great trip- thanks babe!
More summer updates soon!

  1. That is hilarious that Chance got licked on the back of the head and neck! I would have paid money to see that. I'm still laughing! I'm sure he used a bottle of hand sanitizer! Sounds like your summer was off to a rocky/ghetto start! :) Glad to see you're blogging! Love all of the pics and I do agree, the baby ostriches are cute! xoxo.

  2. Oh, the life of a door to door salesman, I remember it all too well. Sleeping on the floor. So glad you actually got furniture at some point. That's cool. hahaha :) And being alone. I worked and worked out a lot. Oh how I would love that time now to work and workout. Enjoy it. And Gross that Chance got licked! I would use a BUCKET of hand sanitizer---sick! And how rude of those people! Too bad they didn't get mauled! Ok, I shouldn't have said that but not. cool. Glad you still had fun though. :)
